What this tool does

Pick a start and an end, and it works out how much time sits between them. You get a calendar-accurate breakdown (so many years, months, days, hours, minutes, and seconds) alongside flat totals: the whole span counted in weeks, days, hours, minutes, or seconds. There's a business-days figure too, counting only Monday through Friday in the range.

How the date math works

The breakdown is counted the way a calendar works, borrowing days from the previous month and months from the year when needed, so months of different lengths and leap years come out right. The totals come straight from the millisecond gap between the two moments. If you enter the end before the start, it measures the span between them rather than showing a negative.

When you'd use this

  • Counting down to a deadline or launch, working out how long a project ran, billing by elapsed time, or checking how many working days a task took
  • The business-days count is handy for SLAs and delivery estimates
  • Everything runs in your browser and the dates are never sent anywhere
