What you can type

Each box accepts more than just fractions. Use a whole number (5), a fraction (3/4 or -5/8), a mixed number with a space between the whole part and the fraction (1 1/2), or a decimal (0.75). Decimals are turned into exact fractions, so 0.75 becomes 3/4 before the math runs.

Why exact beats a regular calculator

Punch 1/3 + 1/6 into a normal calculator and you get 0.49999999 or 0.5 with hidden rounding. This tool keeps numerator and denominator as whole numbers the whole way through, so the answer is exactly 1/2 - no floating-point drift, no rounded last digit.
